Glimmer of hope for higher Mn ore prices
South African manganese miners are confident now that ore prices have reached their nadir but are divided if prices will remain at current levels or start to rise. The most optimistic believe that spot prices will break the $6 per Mn level in the near future with one major supplier saying his price is now $6.10.
The key is whether miners from other locations go along with the South African attempt to boost prices. “We should follow,” one miner said, “but not to South African levels.”
