Actually Crashy, they didn't buy them on market, they inherited them. When Westpac took over Rothschilds Aust. Asset Management (RAAM) recently all the shares that RAAM held are being transfered into Westpac's name and therefore they have to lodge substantial shareholder notices.
They have not bought the shares on market so it is not a bullish sign.
