The issue I see, is that this is too expensive (for what it offers) and rapidly becoming obsolete. It doesn't have enough features to be compelling (from a monthly charging standpoint) in my view.

This type of product needs a big ecosystem and userbase, neither of which have yet been delivered. Without video its also generations behind many competing products.

The biggest risk of all I see, is Amazon, Google or someone even Xaomi with existing customer bases coming in overnight.

Consider .. Amazon already have tens of millions of customers with Amazon Prime and Alexa in their home. The extra wifi sensors, could be pushed out for a few dollars of hardware and immediately integrate with that ecosystem. No additional monthly costs, much cheaper hardware and distribution systems in place.

That's just one company, that could - and likely will - gazzump the likes of Scout overnight.
