I think it plays some part but ready made meals are more about convenience during the working week while keeping costs similar to that of shopping/cooking.
If you are happy with the costs of eating out regularly then you probably are not eating ready made meals and would be steering more towards uber eats or similar from your favourite restaurants/cafes
More about a generation/ society of people that are too busy or in some cases too lazy to cook.
both parents working etc.

would be a percentage that pack these for lunch during Covid and now switch back to purchasing from a cafe. Who knows
