On the rubber peeling off, that seems unusual. I wear mine most days and the rubber looks like new. I wonder if you have more acidic sweat than some people? I'm not making that up, by the way - my mother has to replace her PC keyboards every 2 or 3 months because the letters on the keys wear off. And I know guitarists and bass players who need to change strings extremely often because "their" sweat corrodes the strings faster than other people. So, perhaps your more acidic sweat is causing the rubber or the glue to break down?
