Kurdish officials said a drone targeted Erbil airport in northern Iraq Wednesday. The airport houses US troops. No casualties have been reported.
According to the Arab News website, this was the first known drone attack targeting US forces in Erbil, following a number of rocket strikes attributed to pro-Iranian militias in the country.
A terror group said to be backed by Tehran praised the attack, but did not take responsibility for it.
The drone was said to be carrying a TNT load. A video showed airport crews dousing out a fire at the scene of the attack.
