Whether they are worse off than before is I think quite the debatable point.
SH was a genocidal and expansionist tyrant.
Whilst civil war will perhaps come and casualties will amass.....at least I dont believe it will approach anything near his systematic process

Withought putting to fine point on it and perhaps not the best analogy......take the Aboriginals from Arukun. Up there they'e made it a dry community to try and eal with the scourge of alcoholism.
For many, rather than take that as a real chance to dry out..get a life.....break the habit.....
.......instead they chose enmass to leave the community and take themselves to the parks and streets of the area here and continue their inevitablre social decline
