It appears clear there was a "strategy" behind Iran's response but we can only surmise.
One thing is certain though - this is the first time that Iran has directly struck Israeli territory.
As to the rest we will only know if, and only if, Israel strikes back directly at Iran. Think the US knows what will happen - as THE greatest poster on this site was fond of saying, "WE AWAIT"!
