Iran Nuclear deal deadline hours away

We'll find out soon whether a deal has been thrashed out on allowing Iran access to Atomic Energy...for peaceful purposes only...

Chances are that tonight's self-imposed (by the respective parties) March 31st deadline on establishing the basic terms will not be met, however, negotiations will continue till the absolute deadline of June 30 (and possibly continue beyond)  for a more comprehensive and detailed agreement - any agreement with Iran is apparently better than no agreement.

Apart from the above, there are a number of interesting factors including:

- the fact that Iran already has a great deal of uranium at various stages of enrichment (even though they deny the levels and degree of work required to produce them for anything other than peaceful purposes and even though International Atomic Energy Inspectors have access to declared nuclear facilities only) that they will be required to get rid of (just how much they will actually admit to) is another story - Obama and his partners are prepared to trust Iran on this matter.  Iran has a track record of not being trusted.

- given all the negotiations (countless thousands of hours) by individuals of all parties to date, in the end, any agreement will need to be signed by a religious fanatic - the person in charge of Iran - Ayatollah Khomeini.  You can forget the detail of anything that has been nutted out - if Khomeini signs the agreement, it will be as good as contract written on toilet paper.

Khomeini resided over a large gathering a week or so ago with his plebs shouting "Death to America" and him repeating the comment.  In Obama style exceptionism, a White House Spokesman quite amazingly dismissed Khomeini's comments as intended for a domestic political audience...as John Kerry, under Obama's command pushed on in their trusting talks in agreeing on a Nuclear way forward for Iran.



Just imagine the hoohaa and response if a Western leader presided over chants of Death to a Muslim nation.....
