The value of the USD is entirely arbitrary. The yanks keep printing the stuff with no back up in it's value. therefore it is worthless. The euro is the same if look at it closely. The only one's that are doing the right things are the pomes and Aus and maybe NZ. The poms look as though they have a good idea in offering the banks government bonds for mortgages, this has to be better than printing more.
The poms are extremly protective of there pound (it is the oldest currency of all). the yanks have around three mints!!! all printing money and pressing coins (lots of jobs to protect there). The yanks have very little security on the currency. I found out a few years ago they can't put a lot of security into it as it violates the constitution in some way. So there are how many people printing there own cash?
Seems to me that the best currencies are the GBP and the AUD.
