The USA, Japan and other countries have oil in storage that could be used to make up any shortfall for at least a month say Reuters, and blockading the Straits would be a desperate and very dangerous adventure.

One of the consequenses would be that the USA would probably bomb their oil storage and transfer depots and that would be the end of the Iranian economy.

Gotta hand it to the mullahs though, they're an optimistic lot.
