Anyone who think America can be trusted with nuclear weapons needs their head examined.

Thankfully with Obama in office and his foreign policies should see a much less aggressive stance, unfortunately he has to clean up his predecessor's mess.

Do your history research and you will see why Iran is the way it is right now:

    1. Their oil was controlled by the British, but when Mossadegh was DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED he promised to nationalise the oil industry to give the money back to the people. This upset the Brits since they weren't getting money, so they got the CIA to successfully stage a coup d'etat to overthrow Mossadegh and re-instate the Shah who was happy to comply with western interests.

    2. The people had enough with the Shah's regime from corruption, brutality and too pro-western stance, hence leading to the 1979 revolution. However while the new regime promised many things, it actually took a turn for the worse since many of the things promised didn't come to fruition.

    3. Iran was INVADED BY IRAQ. Iran fought alone while Iraq was funded by the west. Except both sides were funded by the US/Russians in the way of weaponry, of course.

    4. The current uprising that is happening right now due to the rigged elections. After years of being manipulated and being subject to sanctions simply because the US doesn't like Iran's regime hasn't helped, while the other side hasn't helped much to the situation either.

The government seems to be trying to cling onto whatever power they have left, so they've banned demonstrations except on days of mourning. You might have noticed recently that opposition protests have been organised at their own will, while pro-government protests have been going on because the regime gave public workers a day off and food/drink incentive to show support. This is strangely become like 1979 all over again, however the current uprising is lacking direction since there doesn't really seem to be much of a succession plan if it does succeed, nor do they have the numbers to completely overwhelm and outnumber the security forces to side with them.

Momentum is definitely building up, and I do hope things will turn for the better.

Keep watching the news on TV and become ignorant because you're being manipulated when they always show anti-western protests with chants like "death to America". Little do most people realise that they actually like Americans and the people, but hate their politics foreign policies, and have good reason because they've been screwed over by the west for far too long. Dig a little deeper and you begin to realise that things aren't always as they seem.

-- As a matter of fact I'm going to Iran later this year as part of a big 6+ months backpacking trip. From what I've read from other people's travel blogs its going to be one hell of a trip. I have persian friends here and they are the most beautiful, friendly and hospitable people I know.
