re: iranian oil bourse could kill the us $ The $US is held by many countries around the world these days so is not an American currency any more. I'm sure there are many rich Americans and companies putting their assets in overseas places as the power shift takes place. The world hates vacuums or one sided situations, so we can expect the continuing weakening of the US and the strengthening of Europe and Asia. The big danger to America is its reliance on military force to get what it wants; this force is encouraged by China, Japan and other energy hungry countries. In the future much more long term planning will be required to enable economies to flow smoothly. The UN Security Council needs expanding and also the Group of Eight , or if not possible, more tranparency in their decision making process. Globalisation is still taking place and is the cause of much of the worlds problems. Consumers all over the world clamour for the latest gadget and upmarket home, so some pain will continue to be necessary to satisfy these desires. Just pick your shares carefully and make sure they are not ones that are going to be trampled.
