The present day Iraq is very reminiscent of post Tito Yugoslavia. When he departed, total chaos and endless maasacres ensued. Only the intervention of Nato, with the help of the American air power, stopped further 'ethnic cleansing'. It is now divided into its various parts. although the situation is still not completely resolved in Kosovo.
Since Iraq is an artificial country 'made up' by the Brits after WW11, the only solution is to divide it into its various ethnic/religious components. This is a task of herculean proportions. as one has to first to determine the distribution of oil revenue, a factor that did not come into consideration in the breakup of the old Yugoslavia.
Since the Yanks helped the Europeans in Yugoslavia (I haven't evenconsidered the help they gave Europe in WW1 and WW11)why can't they return the favour and help them resolve the situation in Iraq, after all it is on THEIR doorstep.
