I don't follow that logic.
Why should they be shot? It might be labelled as "disputed territories" rather than occupied.
If I reclaim my house that has sqatters in it, the mere fact that they wish to dispute my ownership in court does not mean that by me reclaiming my property in any way means that I am "occupying" my own property.
