"Indigenous peoples in the Philippines province of Benguet are re-asserting their legal rejection of Australian Royalco's mining plan."

"They claim that the relevant Government agency, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), is continually raising procedural issues in order to obstruct implementation of their rights."

...Folks, I like RCO as an investment, and was going to buy in with gusto. I also doubt that there's much financial risk to RCO shareholders that the villagers can prevail against the lawyers and fat cats. And anyway, it's possible that the villagers making the protests don't represent the majority view of the locals as they claim. Besides, maybe they don't know what's good for them, or maybe they're just greedy for excessive compensation.

But if these villagers have in truth seen what usually happens in their country when mining companies come to town, and based on that experience they expect to lose far more than they'll gain, then I might have to look elsewhere for a bargain. I'm not happy about doing that, so if anyone can prove that the villagers aren't being shafted, I'm all ears.
