Mr Palmer said Mineralogy held over 1000 square kilometres of land in the Pilbara region, and the deal with CITIC covered only 10 square kilometres.
"We have got an estimate over that whole area of 50 billion tonnes of ore," he said.
"We have actually got more ore in the ground than Rio (Tinto) and BHP (BIlliton) combined."
