Sydney - Tuesday - July 31: (RWE Australian Business News) -
Midwest Corporation Ltd (ASX:MIS) reports production and shipment of
iron ore fines from the stockpiles at Koolanooka continued at a steady
level during the June quarter.
In the June quarter 224,776 wmt of fines was hauled to Geraldton
Port (232,727 in March qtr) while 236,492 wmt was shipped (180,750).
For the year to date 457,503 wmt of fines was hauled to port and
417,242 wmt was shipped.
Ore haulage was slightly below system design capacity for the
quarter as a result of balancing production with shipping opportunities.
A carry-over shipment of 58,929 wmt is included in the tonnage
shipped for the quarter.
The shipment was loaded in the previous quarter, but was unable
to be included in the previous quarter due to timing of quality assays.
Shipping generally occurred well below the design capacity of
the company's infrastructure due to constraints from heavy shipping
congestion and scheduled shutdowns at Geraldton port.
This trend is expected to continue over the next two quarters
until the new dedicated iron ore shiploading facilities are installed at
Berth 5.
