Suspect speculative punting on a new equity partner perhaps? I know as much as anyone here not connected to top FMG management. We as outsides can only try to join the dots of decisions made prior and gauge options available for funding/debt rolling.

So far they avoided the traps of committing to higher bond yields for debt rolling and exploring "other" options. Asset sales, cap raising or direct equity injection remain the other credible options I can come out with in no specific order. If these are the only credible options available then it make sense that SP should be "helped" along on the inflation curve to get better valuation before the inevitable.
