I agree with the idea that it would make sense to share free sources.
The point of my post though was when 11 people tick a post where the source is "a guy" but the "guy" is saying what they want to hear, and only one person ticks a post where the source is reported to be Nevil Powers (aside - its possible the reporter misunderstood him, and he didn't say that, but I think it's likely he did), this forum's frequent flyers aren't really valuing good sources.
That was pretty much my whole point. Pearhart and spuza brought their own agenda, they always do. But anyone interested in good information because they want to make good investment or trading decisions wouldn't care who posted the information, they'd only care that they could get the source and that the source (not the poster who provided it) was reliable.
Frank says, he doesn't care if RC makes a mistake. From one point of view neither do I anyone can make a mistake. But it does RC no service to not even care enough to inquire who the "guy" he is using as a source is.
This forum could be one in which retail investors assist each other by helping each other find good free sources. But it doesn't actually always work out that way when people bring only their egos and wishful thinking, and then sledge any dissenting opinion.
I'm not reporting you pearhart or spuza (for as usual playing the man not the ball - what's the point - the moderators can't stop the forum from being overrun by people who don't care about facts but only want to cheer their sentiments), but feel free to each shove up a pineapple sideways. To quote Frankycc "hehe".
To kara, mysteel and umetal, and the commsec morning market report have almost all of the information you ask about.
RC's spot price in the morning is the Platts (The Steel Index) 62% CFR spot, there are actually two other relatively frequently used sets of benchmarks, another one from Platts, (IODEX) from memory, and another set from Metal Bulletin. All of these standards have online descriptions detailing what they cover.
To some people the details matter to others they don't, that's okay, but it's kinda irritating when details are posted or inquired about to have to run the gammit of irrelevant personal attacks. I'm not particularly thin skinned. But serial f_ckwits taking free shots all the time (and dumbing down the forum) really does make me want to squat some bugs.
