I know i always bang on about the media but it is the greatest risk to any individual investor for 2 reasons
1) They will tell you what you want to hear to reinforce or determine your trading strategy.
2) Even if you don't listen to what they say and determine your own ideas through strong research there is still to many that do listen which ultimately has adverse effects even on the best researched and fundamentally sound companies.
At this point in an investors life you can't beat the media driven agendas, analysts rubbish predictions, lies and the shorter scavengers so it is very much and always has been a long term and patience game.
Day to day pricing and trends can't make sense otherwise it all becomes too logical and too predictable and as all wise people will tell you "Things aren't always as good or as bad as they appear"
