Cars do not loose much steel, as well as ships , refrigerators, washing machines, cooking utensils, steel inside concrete etc. Of course some steel is lost irreversibly, comes iron ore and replaces it. The new generation of cars will use less steel and more copper, aluminum and artificial fibers. This applies to most products, less steel and if steel than better quality.
Zinc is in demand supposedly because Chines want to rust proof their steel products where it makes sens.
