While Fortescue has fielded many approaches for its assets in the past year, with speculation centring on its vast infrastructure network, it’s understood management has been in negotiations recently with a Chinese player for a 20 per cent stake in Chichester, with a proposal set to be submitted to the board.
Macquarie is expected to spearhead any sale with Baosteel Group widely touted as a logical suitor.
