Hey frank my answer to that question is a definate yes (more io anyone? )
Some don't realise the amount of steel needed to build 175.000 km of track.
If im to calculate it .
We are talking 2 tracks one in each direction
2 x 2 rails on each track.
175.000 x 4 rails is equal to 700.000 km of rail.
Lets calculate 1 meter of rail at 100kg
So there is 7 000.000 meters in total.
We multiply 7.000.000 by 100kg that being for per meter .
We would need 700.000.000 kilos of metal to complete track
All my calculations are based of my estimate of 1 meter of track weighing in at 100kg it could be more .
Plus there is more needed for linking tracks swiches etr.
