Approximately 70 million tonnes of the port inventory is stock in transit so port stockpiles of approximately 14 million tonnes is a bit skinny considering the size of China's steel industry. Spot prices have reflected the expected secure increase in supply from the majors plus Roy Hill. This sad event is a reminder of supply disruption risk.
