I understand where you are coming from, but I see it happening all the time. Many punters, like yourself are waiting in the queue simply on the hope that IO will fall further and they will be able to get in at a cheaper price. When the market does not go their way and the IO rises, so does the SP.
The same punters in the queue will then in the FOMO will buy the shares at 1.6 or even 1.7c just because they don't want to miss out on the possible gains.
So whilst waiting to get the shares at 33% cheaper, you will land up paying 15% more for the same shares. Take the opportunity when the market gives you and learn to read the signs.
