Even if Atlas succeeded in restructuring debt, PPB warned that the company still faced challenging operating conditions until at least April 2017.
Based on four independent forecasters, PPB said the iron ore price was expected to average $US48 per tonne in 2017.
As a result, it said its modelling showed Atlas' cash position was "forecast to become very tight from January 2017 through to April 2017".
However, PPB said it appeared Atlas would have sufficient cash to support the business until April 30, 2017.
