Actual numbers are not as important as which stage the country in on its trajectory, eg a country with 60,000 active cases that isolated 3 weeks ago and has peaked and is beginning a down trend is in a much better position than a country whose active cases are 30,000 but is only beginning to isolate and whose numbers are doubling every 3 days.

Australia looks like its total active cases might be hitting their peak now, because our daily new cases have been falling and the older cases are beginning to recover.

However Brazil is still reporting new cases every day at their highest level, 1000 new cases on Friday vs 140 for Australia, Australia peaked at over 500 new cases per day.
