Here are are a series of graphs on what is happening in Brazil What should be remembered tho, is these are just the reported cases. The trends will be the same. but the real figures will be about 8 times higher, at least. That is because there is a very active attempt in Brazil to downplay the figures. Also, there is a very low rate of testing. Still we can see what is happening there- and it is tragic. Moreover, the epicentres are along the coast, around Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo, and also, in Amozonas- a highly vulnerable state, with a large indigineous population with low immune system defence, and also with fewer hospital beds per capita.
Brazil is in deep trouble and needs urgent international help.
Graph one- shows that, as of 2 days ago, the daily cases of COVID 19 had not yet peaked.
Graph 2 , also from 2 days ago, shows the culmulative deaths in Brazil. It also shows that the death rate is still increasing.
Graph 4 is from 3 days ago and gives a state by state breakdown. Rio and Sao Paulo states are the clear epicentres. These states hosted the carnival in late February this year. The both border Minas Gerais, Vale's mining hub.
This graph is from 3 days ago, and has continued to increase over the last couple of days. Brazil needs international help.
This graphic shows the location of the epicentres, along the coast. The large epicentre in the far left is Amazonas. Minas Geras sits just above Sao Paulo state, and just inland from Rio De Janeiro state. The statistics are from a few days ago.As of April 23, it had increased to a reported 1, 308, an almost 30% increase in just 2 full days. And these are the reported figures.
Brazil is in deep trouble, and will need international help- ventilators, test kits, doctors, etc, etc. In my view, this is urgent.
