Parauapebas officials recognized the city was in danger early on due to the movement of mining workers and specialists from outside the region, the mayor’s office said in a statement. Please, give me a break. Just lockdown the mines and the city. You can't move thousands of people around and expect to stop a full blown epidemic. Vale needs to take a chill pill and stop operations to enable the situation to calm down. And the mayor's office- Darci Lerman- saw the situation coming, and did nothing to stop it? Just stopped a passenger train? Outrageous.
