Itabira, Parauapebas, Canaa dos Carajas- the world is watching. These names will either be synonymous with greed and tragedy, or people will wake up and say, no, human life is worth something, it is worth more than iron ore: the price of iron ore is not death. The mining at these places can stop, and the ore will remain there for a later date, when everything is safe again. It was there before we turned up.
Suspend operations at the affected mines, make safe the cities and the towns, then feed the people, and then return to mining when it is safe to do so. There is no harm in that.
