Wow!. Chinese blast furnaces are still running at virtually full capacity- up .31% on week. 14 weeks of increases. And Mysteel is indicating finished steel stocks are declining. Hmmm. Looks very interesting. Of course though, we also have the corona virus increase in the States to factor in.

Blast furnace capacity utilization rate among China’s 247 steel mills continued to grow over June 12-18, up for the fourteenth consecutive weeks by another 0.31 percentage points to 92.66%, according to Mysteel’s weekly survey, as Chinese steel mills had been increasing their output over the period on further declines in finished steel stocks and positive steel margins.

The current capacity utilization rate is at a rather high level since Mysteel launched the survey in March 2018, being 2.55 percentage points higher on year, though the latest weekly growth rate seemed to have eased, down from the previous week’s increase of 0.45 percentage point, according to the data.
