The city of Parauapebas, the main support city of Serra Norte and Vale's Northern System. population 200,000 now has 700 more cases than all of Australia.The city has released restrictions and is now telling people it is safe to go back to work as long as you are wearing a mask.
There is a very intense, hyper-patriotic local media campaign telling people to get back out there, go back to work. Just wear a mask. Of course, local elections are only just a few months away and the Mayor is keen to stay on.
