Thanks so much for your reply Karasco and your words of caution RareEarths. I am relatively cautious as I have taken knocks in the past, such as the tech crash and the GFC, I have had FMG for some time and rode the waves. I have made lots of mistakes, such as selling half my holding last year, as I was on the cusp of retiring, and now bought them back again. But I have had a go, and have done much better than if I had taken my money out and put it in my LGSuoer fund which is what a financial adviser told me to do a few years ago. I have FMG to thank for that. I have had my share of duds. I do have to be mindful and keep an eye on Mr Market so thst I dont lose it.

Just wondering if anyone uses Selfwealth as a broker, all trades are $9.50. I use comsec, direct shares and etrade and the brokerage is quite expensive.

Selfwealth will set up an ANZ cash trading account a 'trust account' held in their name as a barr trustee for you. They say they can't access your money without your permission, but it does sound odd to me. Each account is reported to APRA by ANZ and the trust account governed by ASIC. Maybe its similar to a CDIA avvount at comsec. Any other disvount brokers worth a look?
