They've been struggling with local supply for a while. stopping and starting as the IO price (naturally) fluctuates is bad for business - the profit margins are lower (moving more dirt, for less money) and environmentally the lower grade ore is terrible also.
Africa is the next frontier for Chinese IO supply, but the lead-time on projects means FMG won't feel that affect for a number of years.
