I don't disagree that prices of iron ore its current position won't facilitate alternatives, it already has.

But these will likely take years perhaps decades before they come to market as a commercially available substitute to steel and likely require a significant shift in manufacturing processes that they aren't going to effect steel or IO prices for a long long time.

All these alloys, rare metals, are significantly more expensive than steel. You miss the point again.

Nickle is rare so its use its everyday it is very specialised use, although growing.


the argument about niches is just that. Steel is a everyday commodity used with higher frequency - niches are just that niches.They won't displace the bulk of steel functions.

Aluminium bodies? Whooa how much do they cost compared to a steel one????? Scandium Alloys, try about 10x the price is steel. Rare earths and alloys ! Horray that sounds economic for everyday mass steel replacement like Rebar and HRC?
yeah at about 5 - 10x the cost of steel. I don't think so.
