Warren Buffett says buy index funds if you are an average investor and he is right because the average investor doesn't have the time or interest to do the work. However these posts just reinforce that if you are prepared to do the hard work and research and make hard headed decisions it is not hard to beat the institutions. These big institutions have 20 something wet behind the ears graduates with little real world experience making these calls on the values of big companies. A lot of these analysts would not have been through a single metals price cycle whereas some of the posts on this forum demonstrate that the poster has been through several.
