He may be at an age where he can use his dividends and capital gains now where he may not be able to access his super for years, that may the basis of his comment.
No salary sacrifice or the like just any spare cash into shares personally where capital gains or dividends can be taken as cash/income at any time.
No guarantee he'll be alive when allowed to access his super or health wise capable of enjoying it. No right or wrong, everyone has a different strategy.
