Exactly, it's random and mostly unpredictable process ... Both to the upside and downside. I think/hope that's recognised by all, so I am not sure what your point is.
But between A and Z, I beleive it's worthwhile trying to make an informed guess to get from A to B and then worry about B to C. What else can you do to make a decision?
