dirkjeremy, this data looks like front month, TSI Iron Ore futures prices.
Those futures are odd in the sense that the settlement value is the average value during the entire month which has consequences:
- Toward the end of the month, the contract just doesn't move because it's hard to change the average price toward the end of the month;
- Because of (1) and also because of the nature of this contract been an "average" it's not capturing the ordinary commodity price moves.
That's why your data looks so smooth.
