I see I see. I've never seen that used as a base value, only when compared to a currency.
I have to think about this a bit more. Obviously the price of gold isn't fixed, but you are suggesting it as a less volatile base comparator to a dollar. it has some volatile years but mostly tracks at a fairly stable trajectory.
