Directly reduced iron is highly susceptible to oxidation and rusting if left unprotected, and is normally quickly processed further to steel. The bulk iron can also catch fire since it is pyrophoric.

'Green' steel is all just corporate 'greenwashing' to fool the public. There is no such thing as 'green' (or cheap) hydrogen

It would be a miracle if this process could even produce a few tonnes of DRI a day - let alone millions of tonnes per year. The only 'technical' papers I've seen supporting 'green' steel are produced by university environmental scientists and economists with zero relevant scientific expertise.

DRI and steel are low margin products. There is no meaningful 'premium'. The costs of handling and shipping bulk IO is so low there is no real advantage in 'value adding'.

DRI is usually produced in-situ and fed directly to electric arc furnaces along with scrap steel.
