China’s banning of Aust coal was certainly a factor but there are others as well. Global coal production in declining but they keep building new coal power stations. Funding is difficult for new coal and green projects are relatively expensive. Banks won’t fund coal production which pushes up the cost of production also.
Anyway China has actually purchased the coal from Aust but it has gone via an intermediary in a different country who commonly badge it their own.
Anyway there is little doubt the CCP’s decision to stop Aust coal imports has hurt them and
resulted pushing up the cost, but it’s certainly not the only factor pushing up the price of coal.
At a global level we lack leaders with genuine wisdom, foresight and empathy.
Morrison can’t escape his own hubris, Xi his own ego, Macron can’t empathise with the threat we face from Xi. Morrison can’t keep huis mouth shut, and should have never flamed Xi pushing for an investigation into the origins of CV19.
Politics is a mugs game. Power corrupts absolutely, absolute power corrupts absolutely,
