There comes a point in every cycle where those with open short positions determine that the cycle is turning and cover their positions... we mustn't make too much of short covering as a cause of rising price activity though - at this time we need to entertain the possibility that institutions are taking long positions again, forming a positive view of the future of FMG and noticing that IO is likely to remain in some demand ...
