China began importing scrap last year.
The LOL is on Australia. Every industrial economy goes through the same steel cycle of massive production increases, a plateau and eventually (considerably) reduced consumption and finally high levels of scrap recycling,
US steel production peaked in the early 70s. Japan peaked in the late 80s. China peaked in 2019.
