ASX is taking account of events which occurred subsequent to European and US markets closing. Looking forward, and with China rapidly denying a looser covid policy, DOW futures are down 200 points as of now.
Events move rapidly and ASX is simply taking account of things not known to European and US investors when they took their view, imo.
I'm personally not in favour of large movements, up or down. They always get reversed and show us that markets are undecided and reacting to rumour and innuendo which always ends badly. Slow and steady always wins the race, again imo, with apologies if that sounds cliched....
