Platts Iron Ore Index assessments reflect the tradeable price of iron ore at 5.30pm Singapore/Beijing time (9.30 am GMT). Platts benchmark is widely used by Australian and Brazilian IO producers to set contact prices. At each end of the day at 5:30pm, Platts collect sale prices during the day and formed a benchmark price.
Dalian IO Future normally reflects the real time market prices, therefore you will normally see Dalian sync with Platts 62 either up or down at the end of the day.
The current main Dalian IO Future is 2305 (May 2023), you should use this Future index only, other months have less than 5000 trades a day and are not used by media and are sometimes out of sync with the main IO Future index. The main IO Future index will shift every few months.
The main Dalian IO Future 2305 ended the day (3pm, not night trade) on RMB 863.50, up 6.5 or 0.75% from previous day. Platts 62 is up similarly 0.48%.
