Last time US reached the debt ceiling in 2011, there were deals made from "massive" cuts to US budgets and caused the SP500 to panicked and dropped something like 20% after. BUT most of those "cuts" were never eventuated because most were classified as emergencies and essentials.
So if bears are wishing US markets will tank this time around as well, better be prepared for massive losses. This time market will rally hard.
