I haven't had a chance to see what happened yet, but something happened around 10am US time to ignite a rally.... and it seemed to be USD related. Resource stocks, in particular gold, were very keen to participate in the rally so a higher open is expected this morning, albeit tempered by a significantly stronger AUD for the same reason:
