Yes RIO's half year results are after the close today, thanks for spotting that error @brianscbr.
Resource stocks did really well in Australia yesterday, but the US just took it to another level overnight. Perhaps assisting that was the fact that during and after ASX trade (I think) the Chinese stock market had one of its best days in about 6 months yesterday:
